2024 Rivian R1S Adventure Quad Motor Large Pack Review
The 2024 rivian r1s adventure quad motor large pack has a lot going for it. Its four electric motors spit out a combined 835 horsepower, enough to propel this nearly 7,000-pound SUV to 60 mph in just three seconds. It’s also capable of handling off-road driving, thanks to short overhangs and 15 inches of ground clearance. It has a full set of drive modes too, including All-Purpose, Snow, All-Terrain, Drift, Rock Crawl and Conserve. Unlike some EVs, the Rivian doesn’t pipe engine noise into the cabin, instead accentuating the nice whirs of its motors.
The base Rivian is a Dual-Motor model, which has two electric motors for each axle. Its output isn’t as high as the quad-motor version, but it still has a healthy amount of power and can get to 100 mph in less than five seconds. If you want more, there’s a Performance Dual-Motor model that ups the output to 685 horsepower and 829 lb-ft of torque.

Rivian offers a range of battery packs too, from a 135-kwh Large Pack that gives the Dual-Motor R1S 260 miles on a charge to a 149-kwh Max Pack that will give you up to 321 miles per charge, according to Rivian. That’s more than double the range of a Nissan Leaf Plus.
The R1S’s interior is spacious, with plenty of legroom in the second row and roomy seats up front. There are a ton of ports and power outlets too, including eight USB-C and wireless charging. It has an excellent 19-speaker Meridian sound system and even a built-in air compressor to inflate tires or camping gear. However, it largely relegates all controls to the touchscreen and relies on Alexa for most functions, rather than giving drivers dedicated buttons for things like the side mirrors and seat adjustments.
